Last night my clutch stopped working. I got a tow to the closest shop, anything simple or more likely I should try to DIY before they nick me for $500 or whatever?

Can you describe the symptoms? Does it disengage? Does it engage? What does the pedal feel like?
It sits on the floor. Connection to master is good. Diagnosis is fluid from bell. Slave failure
How accessible is the slave? I've done it on other cars, and it's not too bad as long as you can get to it. Especially if there's not a lot of fluid in the system to begin with.
edit: Oooh, is it like the Versa where it's inside the bellhousing? That's a different beast altogether.
Yes. My estimate is 10+ hours labour, $1500.
I may as well replace my clutch or maybe the whole tranny
Holy crap! How does it take 10 hours??!
i'd replace the clutch too...how many kms do you have on it ?
bad luck....lets hope?
Any news?
I assume you checked the clutch fluid level?
I had a very slight leak on my Miata from the time I got it a couple of years ago -- just a drip here & there near the back of the engine/front of the trans case. I mistakenly thought it was engine oil until one day my clutch stopped working.
Topping up the fluid reservoir fixed it. (But not the very slow leak, obviously)
Any news, nichol?
