Replaced a CVT F16 Nismo RS with full bolt ons but glad to be here
-
2014 Mitsubishi Mirage DE (CVT).
The Micra has worse fuel economy, but it's far more fun to drive and more comfortable!

Mazda2, now I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t have

The Mazda2 seemed more solid and better built.

None of the above. In 2019 I was doing Instacart shopping with my motorcycle so I needed a car for the winter. Fed up piloting auto transmission garbage I bought my 2015 S for $6k. Didn't take long to earn my money back :D

I replaced a 1999 Toyota Camry XLE v6. I only bought it in 2020. It had about 266,000 km on it, and the engine was replaced with a 2001 Lexus engine. I actually loved that car, but it was a pig on gas. At a price of $1.51 / L, it cost $100 to fill. Mind you, it was a comfortable ride.
When I junked it three years later, it had 306,000 km on it. It needed exhaust work anyway, but also the car died on the roadway prompting this replacement.
Truth be told, I prefer older, boxier and sometimes, bigger cars. Not always big ones though. For example, the only cars I really like from the 2000s would be Nissan Sentras (from 2002 to 2006), Subaru Imprezas (before 2007), and I actually liked Chevy Cavaliers from 2000 to 2006 as well. You get the idea of "shape" or "form" of car I like.
So I was at home in my Camry. Plain Jane instrument cluster, no screens, nice audio system, etc...
While searching for this Micra, I was also searching out Kia Rios and Rio5s from before and including 2011, and for Hyundai Accents from 2007 to 2011. I liked the older, but more utilitarian look of such cars, and I find the Micra is about the newest car that fits this description. I hate how newer cars have high belt lines, doors appearing to rise up in the back, ... ick!
Let's hope my Micra last me a long while!
