Auto Transmission Replacement (internal bearing failure)

So I've had this annoying mechanical whine that almost mimics a teapot whistle that occurs on deceleration while off the throttle. it's relative to the speed of the wheels, not to the gear or what have you. I took it in to the dealership this last weekend, after having brought it it last summer for the same reason. this time, they put it on a lift and had a mechanic rev the engine up and let the vehicle decelerate naturally. This produced a very clear and distinct whine once isolated in a shop. After sampling the oil, finding it to be black and metallic, the verdict is that a bearing or something had let go within the transmission, and a new one (under warranty) was placed on order.

    Thanks for the update, Frosty.

How long will they have your car?

Had mine replaced at 9000km I came in at 8200km for a transmission service just because I like to change all the fluids early when it's new and within a month it started whining when slowing down and they replaced it under warranty saying that some bearing failed

Welcome to the forum, Tomlantis212 .

Sounds like the same issue Frosty had.

How long ago was the replacement? I assume no trouble since then?

That's the exact same issue that I had.. Only my service guys let it go on for another 30 thousand kilometers before they would actually do something about it.

Just had it done 1 month ago I do alot of driving about 500km a week I brought it in and told them about the noise and they weren't really bothered than I came back told them to fix it and call me when it's done and they replaced it. It was some bearing failure. Here's my problem now 3k later the noise is back

Transmissions do not make whining noises. Simple as that. Go find another service shop lol.
