Another writer gets a crack at a bare bones Micra S 5-speed and declares it's almost a no-brainer to get one instead of a used car.

He says he's actually considering doing just that.

There are a few small mistakes in his report, but that's par for the course. He says...

Likes:

- price (of course)
- nimble, decent handling
- tight turning circle, easy to park
- decent fuel economy
- cute styling

Dislikes:

- rear legroom
- plain, plasticky interior
- engine noise on the highway -- needs a 6th gear
- upholstery is a magnet for hair & lint (really, is this an issue?)

Overall:

He gave it a 7/10: "New car at a used car price."

With an as-tested price of just $9,998 you can forgive the base Micra for all of its shortcomings.
