Question Squealing when accelerating up a hill

Just like the title says my micro has started squealing when accelerating up a hill.

Belts are tight from looking and pulling them a little, any other ideas or suggestions on what it may be? Was thinking maybe the alternator bearing, but not as well versed in cars as my dad or some of you guys are.

Would love suggestions on things to check.

Does it do it every time going up hills? But not on level ground? The hill part is very unusual.

One way to test if it's alternator/belt-related: turn on ALL the electric accessories you can (high beams, heater fan on high, rear defrost, 4 way flashers, all the wipers on high, radio, anything else you can think of). Does the sound happen sooner, or is it louder?

Not every time going up a hill, but never on level ground. I will turn everything on and listen in to see if I can hear it and update here.

    How many kilometers?
    Automatic or manual?
Does the squeal seem like it is originating from hood or from the rear of the micra?
Only uphill when you really put your foot into it or all the time even under slight demand for power?
Humor me and check your oil/trans fluid if automatic.
    Belt dressing or spray?

    Automatic or manual? Automatic

Does the squeal seem like it is originating from hood or from the rear of the micra? Hood for sure

Only uphill when you really put your foot into it or all the time even under slight demand for power?only up hill when my foots pushing harder on the pedal, no squealing under normal stress.

Humor me and check your oil/trans fluid if automatic.
Oil needs a change in 700 km, I'll check the colour and get back to ya.

Belt dressing or spray? Not sure what you mean.

Definitely happened when I turned all the electronics on, but kept happening when they were off too.

Oil is dark but lots in there.

If it got worse when you increased electrical load, my bet is it's the belt. Either tension or condition.

It's the belt, mine did the same for like 2 years before I decided to replace it (which was a good call because it was mangled) - the tensioner... oh the words have for the tensioner... it's not an impossible job to do in the driveway, better to have a friend with you though. There's a mechanic on youtube that does ChrisFix style video's for his car (versa note) so it's nice seeing exactly what to expect - 'Mech a Nic'

    2015 SV- acceleration noise, solved

I've been posting here about a noise I heard nobody could identify. So I decided to dive into the engine with my dad. We discovered the noise was an absolutely destroyed fan belt, at 53300km!!!

So anyone with a 2015 Micra should check the fan belt if you're getting odd squealing or Intermittant chirp sound when accelerating or going up hill. My original to the car fan belt was dried out and cracked to ****, which really shouldn't happen under 80k according to my dad (backyard mechanic) and the dealer when I called to ask. It was cracked throughout the grooves all the way down to the flat belt area, and all the way around the whole belt.

Replaced it yesterday, so have to wait a week to be sure the noise doesn't come back but so far so good.

Hope this solves someone else's issue too if that's the case.

Thanks for reporting back with the solution to the problem, Wayward One. Glad you got it sorted out.

(PS: I moved your "SOLVED" post into this existing thread.)
