    Injen Intake adds 4 hp & 4 ft/lbs (Micra 1.6 dyno chart/graph)

I was poking around the internet trying to find more HR16DE info and found this dyno chart. It is from a Nissan Versa Note (which shares the HR16DE with the Micra). The blue line is stock, the red line is with an Injen intake kit added to the car.

Now of course, it begs the question, does the Injen intake fit the Micra?

Note-ified also shot a quick video to show off the sound:

Those are actually pretty good hp gains for such a small engine and small mod. I usually see intakes ad only about .5-1.5 hp.

Yeah, I was surprised as well. Normally, OEMs take pretty good care of not leaving things like 4 extra horsepower on the plate.

It looks like Note-ified also did a quick video of his new intake to note (haha, see that?) its sound.

i would have thought the same thing too, but if you look up the JDM Nissan Juke's powertrain you see that the base version uses the same HR16DE that we get here in the states, but it produces 115hp instead of the 109hp we get here. from what i recall too, another member on the versa forums said that they also make a version of the HR16DE that produces upward of 126hp and from what we can figure and what he has been able to dig up, they all mention something about tuning the CVTCS system to gain the extra power, but dont quote me on that as i have not been able to find the versions of the HR16 that the other member was talking about

Thanks for the info. I have seen that it is rated for 115hp overseas. I had chalked it up to higher octane fuel and thus more advanced timing, but perhaps its more than that.

What aftermarket ecus can even control CVTCS?

From what I can gather its not a tune but rather an updated version of the hr16de or at least that's what was discussed when we were talking about it

Thanks for the graph & the additional info, Note-ified.

(I really need to install that "thanks button" mod...)

no problem at all guys, i believe this particular engine has alot more to offer with the right modifications, i just hope that some of the aftermarket companies take notice of that so we can get some support behind this engine

Those are pretty respectable gains for such a simple change. I'm glad to see it's an even improvement all the way through the RPM range. I've seen too many intakes for D/B series hondas that show X hp improvement at peak power, but lost power down low as a result. Throw on a big rear sway bar and these cars could probably do well in stock/street class at an autocross.
