    Protecting the fuel filler pipe

An other modification that I did is to protect the gaz filler pipe that goes to the tank. I got a piece of sump pump drainage hose 11/2" and split it and installed it over the pipe to protect it from road debris and road salt. Will post a picture asap.

You've done this to other cars? Any concern that the plastic pipe itself may trap moisture inside?

I'd be a bit weary of putting that corrugated plastic around the pipe as well. If Nissan thought it would be a good idea, I'm sure they would have spent the extra $0.50 per car to put it on. I'd definitely worry about it trapping water and salt and rusting the pipe out faster. I wouldn't be too worried about things hitting it. Its metal just like the body work around it. It can take a hit.

Actually I had a look at my Toyota Matrix and they did something similar to protect the pipe. What you done see in the picture is that it is open on they other side. So it acts as a shield and rock guard. so I think it will protect it...

spray the iron part with the good zinc spray (usually silver color) generously then spray with black spray paint anti rust (if any) or normal spray paint then install the corrugated plastic above, good idea tks
