Well maybe it's all up in the air anyway: Apparently Mazda has pulled the 2 from its product line for the U.S., even though it was designed to meet all U.S. regulations:

Cheap gasoline and tight supplies from a new factory in Salamanca, Mexico, have persuaded Mazda Motor Corp. to forgo selling the redesigned Mazda2 in the U.S., a top executive said.

Not sure what this all means for Mazda Canada's plans.

    no Mazda2 for Canada either

Well, life just got easier ... or failed to get more difficult ... for the Micra:

Failure to Launch: Mazda Canada Decides to Pass on Mazda2, Will Focus on Crossovers

After officially giving the Mazda2 its North America reveal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in January, Mazda Canada announced, nearly ten months later, it will not sell the subcompact hatchback in the country.

    [...]

Canadians looking for some zoom-zoom in their subcompact will have to check out the Toyota Yaris Sedan...
The Yaris sedan will be a rebadged Mazda 2 sedan, also sold as a Scion iA sedan in the U.S.

Really? Thats too bad. I kind of liked the mazda 2. It was a bit mundane in its styling but I thought it was a pretty good little car. Reminded me of the old 323 hatchbacks.

Personally, after getting a good decade out of my Micra, I hope to replace it with a 2025 Micra.

Funny, I wanted to test drive a Mazda 2, but when I went to the dealer they told me not to bother with it and wait for the '16. They didn't have any stock anyways.

Yeah, they're winding down sales of the previous generation car.

Mazda Canada sold 10 last month (Oct), 22 in Sept.

    Get 'em while they last!
