The stability control is in all trim of the Micra, from the cheapest S to the more expensive SR. It's written in their brochure.

Of course, stability will not do any miracle if you have bad winter tire and it's sliperry. So to have good control it is still required to have good snow tires. I am guessing that stability will not do much if the tires are not good.

The Nissan Safety ShieldŽ technologies are a comprehensive approach
to safety that guides the engineering and development of every vehicle
    we make.

Whether you need to hit the brakes hard or manoeuvre around an
unexpected obstacle, these standard technologies help you respond
    to a potentially harmful situation.

Vehicle Dynamic Control helps you maintain your steered path.

Traction Control System helps reduce wheelspin in low-traction situations.

Anti-lock Braking System helps you maintain steering control around
    obstacles while braking heavily.

Electronic Brake force Distribution sends extra force to the rear brakes
when you have additional weight of passengers or cargo in the back.

Brake Assist helps apply maximum braking force if it detects hard braking
and senses you are in an emergency situation.

^id love it if someone tested the above features in real world (controlled) situations.

its amazing to see so many modern safety tech in such a cheap car, but sometimes i cant help but believe it when i see it. and, it would be great marketing pr for prospective small car buyers!

I beleive it because I have experienced it quite a few times this winter. It works very well.

I have not tried the electronic brake force distribution, but everything else.

Looking at the stats, this thread is getting lots of hits lately from visitors searching on the topic of Micras in the snow.

Which means winter has finally landed!

Anyone have any more observations/thoughts to share?

aside from my silly little (non serious) video on my sig ....not much snow driving.

here in vancouver, people rarely have snow tires, so the recent snow has done a lot of accidents

    snow tires are king.

    Micra In the Snow

We have had a fair bit of snow here in Windsor Ontario recently.
The Micra is very very good in the snow. So nimble. Way better than my new Sentra.
    Traction control works good.
But shut it off and let're rev rev rev!
Also so funny that the car "beeps" at you when you add in some "parking brake" to spin the rear end around a bit when cornering.

The Micra is a ver very fun car to drive!

went toe to toe with a jeep with bald all seasons (i guess) i am running 14 " snowtires from walmart

    the hill starts a 1:41

i cant complain traction control cut throttle and braked too i guess. i actually stopped on the hill behind the jeep backed up and it went foward(which i thought was amazing!)

THIS IS NOT AN EXCITING VIDEO..lol

I'm not really a big fan of the traction control on this car, but it is what it is. It incorporates the abs to limit wheel slip to the slipping wheel and slows down the ability for the engine to rev high. I drove a Mazda 3 back to back with my 5spd in the snow and the Mazda system is better, but also more $. For snow i turn off the traction control ( as advised by the owners manual). The biggest difference is of course good snow tires. As a wise man said, the worst snow tires are better than the best all seasons. Still fun, front wheel frive and good tites are pretty bombproof.

This was from a couple years ago now, but is an excellent demonstration. It's now almost February 2017, and I drive with the same confidence that Micra with snow tires is unstoppable.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
