Got a response from my dealer and he apologized for the miscommunication and told me that the tech had marked ok because it is not equipped. He also said that the filter will soon be available but not yet.

I emailed him back saying I googled the nissan part number and that I expect a filter in lieu of the missing one (when they are available) as all my sales brochures state that the Micra comes with the filter.

Sounds reasonable to me. Everyone should get one if they were advertised, yet AWOL from the factory.

I've been swamped between the career and home renovations over the past few months, but I received my second letter for the gas pedal trim recall, and I decided to call them to make that appointment and to press them about the cabin air filter.

I made my appointment for tomorrow night for the recall work, then asked about the cabin air filter. When I told the lady that it was advertised in the brochure, she told me the Micra didn't need it, so I told her that I agree with her on that, but that my wife does need it on account of her allergies. She investigated, and told me it was the same one that goes into the Sentra, and they'd put one in for me when I get the recall work done.

If I don't follow up, assume this information is correct. Remember, this filter isn't for the car, it's for the people in the car.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

So I went to the service counter, and the service adviser told me how much the cabin air filter would cost to install. I told him it never had one from the factory, and he explained to me that some trim levels of cars didn't come with one, that it was extra, so I picked up a 2015 Micra brochure and showed him. He told me that they owed me an in-cabin air filter.

Also, they did a nice job on the trim.

took a snarky tweet to my dealer, but they finally got me a no-charge warranty filter after telling me I had to buy one the other week. The owner of the dealer personally called me to apologize and offered me a free detail! We chatted for a bit about the Micra Cup coming to Ontario. (he's an old racer so I'm gonna push him to get a car in the field for next year)

Push hard and tell him that participation in this is viewed as a very good thing by Nissan corporate folks. We need a dealer in this area to step up and it might as well be trans canada rather than the one in Lindsey. Boyer will likely have a deal with someone. So yeah push hard there are so many options as he could go for the team thing with multiple drivers or the rookie thing plus a trans canada micra would just look good.

A local competitor would be fun. Glad to hear you got the filter, too.

I was just told at the dealer today that since the car didn't come with the filter that they wouldn't install one.... unless I wanted to pay for it and installation. It was worth a try but fully expected at my dealership.
