    Come think of it, the manual is probably pulled directly from the Euro Micra, which will explain the low gearing, which was probably optimized for the less powerful 1.2L engine.

    The 1.6L we get definitely doesn't need it.

    Good theory! I did a bit of digging... and... that's not the case.

    Even the lowest powered 1.2L UK Micra has taller gearing (lower RPM) than ours. The good news is if you really wanted to lower your RPM for better economy, you could do it with parts from a UK gearbox.
