What do you think of the Micra's looks?

Personally, I like the looks of it. However, I do like the looks of the previous generation (K12) better. Its a bit more quirky and has more character.

Here is a K12 image from the Micra wiki page.

Nissan took quite a bit of flack from some corners over the design of the K12 - it was a bit too "out there" for a lot of people. But it's also my favourite of the Micras.

Those headlights placed high on the hood remind me a bit of the Nissan Leaf, but I'm not a fan of the Leaf's looks overall:

I'm also not crazy about the back end of any Micra: knowing what I know about aerodynamic design, they're pretty terrible in that regard:

I mean, it looks funky, but I can't get past the aero!

The current generation (K13) rear end is a bit better (larger drag-reducing spoiler on the hatch for one thing), but the drag number still isn't very impressive at Cd 0.315.

    What about pre-facelift K13 vs. post-facelift K13?

...basically newer the better, the 2013-up more than 2010-12. im not sure what versions (country) im always looking at but it seems like some of the 2013s didnt get all the same tweaks as canadas, seems like some got rounded headlights, some got edgy.
and the back of the k12, and early k13s remind me of the london taxis. which also makes me cringe over the aero, where the later k13s seem to set them selves away from that

I'd definitely say the face lifted K13 looks the most 'modern' of all the body styles.

Like most small cars, I think it is too narrow and tall. I much prefer lower, wider cars.

Overall styling is a bit lackluster, but that is typical of Nissan. Not bad, but nothing terribly exciting either. Botsapper's rendition would certainly turn some heads though.

It has a problem over here in the shape of the Hyundai I10.
    When I think I see a K13 coming every time it's an I10.
When they look so close it is hard to not compare them.

The I10 is the largest of all the really cheap small cars. It is roomier inside than its sister model the Kia Picanto.
This new generation has grown larger and now is as big inside as the Micra, but cheaper. The boot area is smaller.

Most I10 over here are of the old, even cheaper, smaller and higher type:

(Same type and color as my wife's car)

Engine wise you can choose between a 1.1 and a 1.2 liter engine; the latter is the more economical and powerful option. The 1.1 falls a bit short, the 1.2 is adequate, yet not sporty. The I10 seats 4 6 foot adults with room to spare.

So if you buy a Micra instead of an I10 over here, you spend a few thousand extra to get a slightly sportier car with a slightly bigger boot and probably better handling and a better reputation (the Micras are known to be reliable).
The I10 is pretty reliable as a type too, even though we had a bit of bad luck with it.

If the I10 were to compete in the Canadian market it would need a bigger engine; the 1.2 cannot stand up against the Micras 1.6.

    I've owned a K11, 2 K12's and now a K13 (pre facelift). I must say I liked the looks of the K12 160SR best.

    I'd say,
it's no worse looking than most other "Economy" cars
if it's fairly comfortable, you can't really complain about a $10K new car.
