2015 Nissan Micra tires - size, brand

Nissan says the 2015 Micra will come with two wheel/tire options:

    • 185/60R15 all-season with 15-inch steel wheels with covers as standard equipment
      .
    • 185/55R16 all-season with 16-inch black-painted alloy wheels as optional equipment

As for the brand of tire, the Nissan press kit photos show the red car with 16 inch alloy wheels and Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 in P195/55R16 size, with 51 PSI maximum pressure rating.

The blue Micra with dark alloys shown at the Toronto auto show last week was wearing Firestone FR710 185/60R15 M+S.

So, considering neither of the cars shown so far were wearing a wheel & tire combination described in the official specs, we'll have to wait and see what tire actually comes on the car.

I have heard good things about Ecopia tires. I am a fan of Bridgestone tires, they have always been good to me.

Would the RE-92s fit on the 15s? I don't know any science behind it, but to my knowledge the least RR is with these. They're great on other eco directed cars.

It might be interesting to see if these will work in other aspects with the vehicle, like max weight they can run, and comparison of price & expected life.

Yup the RE-92s fit on the 15s.
I am experimenting with 195/60r15s Michelin Hydroedge on 2000 civic Si Rims on my 92 VX coming from 175/70r13s Michelin Defender on VX rims.
The weight gain works out to approx 10lbs per corner, which is a lot, but the car doesn't seem to miss any power.
I am trying to gain MPG, theoretically I should gain approx 6% higher MPG, but the extra weight will hurt.
So its will be an interesting test to bring up my avg over almost 4 years to more then 57.4 US MPG
I know that new cars like the Micra are coming with bigger rims for a reason, and they are at least geared for them.
I looked at the gearing on the Micra vs the VX

Micra 5-Spd Man Transmission vs VX 5-Spd Man Transmission

    1st - 3.727-----1st - 3.250
    2nd - 2.048-----2nd - 1.761
    3rd - 1.393-----3rd - 1.066
    4th - 1.029-----4th - 0.853
    5th - 0.821-----5th - 0.702

    R - 3.545-----R - 3.153

    FD - 4.055-----FD - 3.250

Hopefully I can work with the VX gearing in my favor.

Has anyone else who has checked out the Micra at the autoshows noted the tires?

Maybe Nissan is looking for a sponsorship deal? did they have any other products of note in the car?

No, but one or two of the Toronto auto show Micras had roof racks on them...

The Quebec Micra S in the video posted by member micra-swiftman007 was stated by the presenter as having Firestone tires.
