I didn't bother to spring for the alloys. What for? To show off the drums in the rear? Also, don't the 16's make the front rotors look awfully small? Not to rag on the brakes; I'm sure they're more than adequate for a car of this size and weight, but let's not pretend this is something it isn't. Maybe the kids will love it and I'm too old to understand, but I think I'll stick with the steelies this time around.

Now, if only they made alloy rims more like this style for the Micra:

Good aerodynamics on those Mazda wheels!

Similar to the the hybrid style aero wheels Honda Canada fitted to all 5-speed Civics a while back to raise fuel economy:

Yup, those are the kind of rims that need to go on the top end Micra; to be honest, I'd be embarrassed to drive a Micra with the spoked rims. Here's hoping Nissan comes to their senses and puts proper alloys on the top tier Micra.

Does anyone know if there's a legitimate reason why Nissan went with the slightly more expensive P185/60R15's as opposed to the more common, slightly less expensive P185/65R15's?

Probably so that us Micra owners don't use up all the winter tires meant for the versa notes

Hi people, the 2014 Micra has been using 175/60R14 and 175/60R15. Do you know why they would choose 185/60R15 for the 2015 Micra? I presume that would impact in fuel expenses.

    Regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin -

It could partly be for aesthetic reasons (wider and lower profile looks "sportier"), or partly because of regional differences in common tire sizes.

One thing Nissan Canada said about the Micra's wheel size choice was they avoided 14 inch because it has become much less common in recent years in Canada, which would mean much less choice for replacement tires and winter tires.

The only new car available here that comes with 14 inch wheels is the Mitsubishi Mirage (OK, possibly also oddball cars like the Smart?). And I bet they'll change to 15 inches in the next year or so.

hey, so mine has the standard P185/60R15 all-season low rolling resistance tires.....anyone know what's the ideal pressure for the tires?

also, americans use the lincoln penny coin to see if tire wear reaches lincoln's head or not. what do canadians use??? :/
