Manual Door Locks, a cautionary tale for morons.

Opposable thumbs are a really great idea and a powerful tool, but, as with all things powerful they must be treated with respect and used prudently. So if you've got 'em, be careful with placement and power setting when closing/locking doors without using the key...
You're driving a base model Micra, so you don't want to make things any worse...the sight of a bespectacled nerd fumbling around with keys, being ever so careful to lock his precious little gas sipper, is just not gonna cut it with the ladies in the club line.
You want to exit that car nonchalantly, casually flick door closed in one clean motion, and for extra points... fling a half smoked cigarette to the curb as you make your first step.

Just practice this at home so you don't end up with little dents, from improper thumb placement, especially if you're feeling a testosterone induced rise in passive aggressive hatred towards your delicate little flower of a car

I'm such a moron I have 'em on the other side also, as I often walk around and pull stuff out that side.

    Wait, wait, wait...

So you put little dents in the door doing the "hold the handle open with one hand while closing the inside lock with the other hand" maneuver?

Remind me to decline any future thumb wrestle challenges from you.

    .
    Sad but true. LOL.
I lock the inside after opening door, and then just hold the handle open and release it when door is closed. Lots of older cars I've owned were like this.
I now know to hold the handle open while placing that opposable thumb on the plastic key surround instead of the door skin.

It's pretty thin sheet metal there, I'll bet if you pulled the inside of the door off, you'd be able to pop those dents back out.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

Neat! Can you start a new thread explaining what you did? EG: Did you do it yourself? What kit did you get? (I'm assuming it's aftermarket, not a dealer part?)

No need to to tell me how thin the metal is ... I posted to warn you all!

If it continues to bug me I may have to do this. Or call the Dent Dr.

I tried popping them out with a suction cup, no luck.
