    Got my new Micra!

So we needed a second car since my daughter got her license, she will be sharing my wife's Sonata. I started by looking at some used cars but got more and more depressed. So then the low sticker price on the Micra caught my eye and I went and took one for a test drive. My first test car was a Micra SV automatic which drove pretty well, I was immediately impressed by the suspension. The automatic though felt a little sluggish to me so I then tried out a Manual SV and wow it's a totally different beast! Too bad they didn't borrow the 6-speed manual tranny from the Versa/Sentra because I feel it could really use the extra gear. So I ordered a blue Micra S, don't really need AC anyways and since I will be the only one driving it power mirrors are really not a necessity for me. And since I am leasing the car for 3 years I am not planning any mods except maybe some 16 inch rims and tires. The dealer threw in a new set of winter tires so I can mount those on the stock rims. Oh and I got free Sherlock, turns out my wife knows the financial director at the dealer!

    Welcome, micraguy!

Congrats on your Micra. So you went with the manual? Did the dealer give you an ETA? Seems there are delays getting manual transmission cars.

    I had the same reaction.

What part of the country are you in? I'm in the same camp (don't feel the need for A/C)... but it's a rapidly dwindling camp.

I blame global warming. Pretty soon, we'll all need A/C just to survive!

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

That, and everybody's personal thermostat is different. Some people wilt in the heat while others go for long pants to stay comfy in the same conditions.

And it's a matter of perspective, too. I haven't complained about the heat in Canada since I lived in the Cayman Islands many years ago. It doesn't get hot here.

I have to agree with you all. I don't mind the heat. I did a tour in Afghanistan. It isnt much hotter then that. But strangely enough... I love to sleep with the AC on, and same with driving. I like to be cold.. But was it worth forking out the money. For me, yes. For you? Maybe.

For me, the most unpleasant part of a hot car is the clammy/sweaty seatback. Fixed with:

Crazy as it seems, I do like those beaded covers.

I only had to wait 10 days for my little blue Micra, which has been dubbed 'lil blue'. Seems there are no shortages of Micras in any trim in Montreal, I saw 4 yesterday.
