Passenger Side Wiper Arm (why the upward angle?)

    Hi All,
New member here and proud owner of a 2015 Micra SR. Love the car. Hate the way the passenger side wiper arm rides high on the windshield in the off position. I noticed that on Euro spec Micras, the arm sits low on the windshield and I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Canadian spec arm can be swapped with a Euro version?
    Hope someone knows.......

    Hi fniguy -

Good question - I noticed that as well, but other than looking slightly odd the first few times I looked at it, I thought nothing more of it. But count owner Antruby as another one who doesn't like it.

Observant of you to notice the straight wiper arm on the other Micras.

You could post a question to MicraK13NL (Netherlands owner here on the forum). You can see his straight wiper arm in his garage photo:

    It's a regulatory issue

The Mitsu Mirage has the same angle on its right side wiper in Canada and the U.S., but not in other countries where the same car is sold.

FYI, the U.S. division has said it's a regulatory thing:

This is a US compliance issue and has to do with total swept area by the wiper for visibility.
Since Canada's safety compliance rules are nearly identical to those in the States, it's a safe bet this is why the Micra's wiper has the "bend" in it too.

I'd bet if you wanted you could get a straight k13 arm from elsewhere and it would fit.

The European face-lifted Micra still has the low wiper arm.

    You lucky buggers!

Fortunately, us Canucks are living in the shadow of the timid, paranoid, bubbled wrapped modern American society...all their over regulation keeps us all comfy and extra safe!

Our only hope is that some brain dead goof puts his eye out on that wiper whilst hood surfing, and we'll have a new regulation putting the wiper back where it belongs. That might take a while though, so I may just have order a Euro spec arm if the stupidity of it continues to gnaw at me.

I wonder if some European Micra owners lust after our passenger side wiper arm, and would be willing to do a trade?

Made in the same factory as the Canadian cars, I'd bet they're interchangeable.

Shipping from Mexico should be way cheaper too.
