Question I have...front right side of the bumper there is a plastic cover that comes off..I took it off and I thought might be tow hook location...but I guess I was wrong..there is nothing. Can anyone tell me why they have it for?
(again I have the base model Micra with AC and Auto).

    Thanks in advance.

    You mean this cover?

I would have thought that's the tow hook location.

I think its a hideaway for the block heater cord, instead of the old method of pulling it through your grille, or having your hood popped open.... pure speculation.

My educated guess is one of these:

    a) Something was in there to provide a place to anchor the front of the Micra down and keep it secure during transport. Once it arrived at its destination, the anchor that was in the bumper was removed, and the cover was snapped into place.

b)If they packed Micras in really tight when shipping them, some sort of heavy foam block might snap into there and go across the front of the bumper to protect it during shipping. Again, once at destination, that block would be removed and the cover snapped into place.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

Tie down point. Looks like you screw an Eye hook into it so you can chain it to the deck of a trailer.

Funny thing: I opened the little cover and didn't see a hole for the tow eye/hook. There's a layer of foam between the outer bumper cover and the steel bumper itself, but I couldn't feel anything beneath the foam where you could screw a tow hook into the bumper.

So I used a blade to carefully cut the outline of the circle in the foam... and there's no nut welded in or on the bumper:

And then someone pointed out at the Loyalist Parkway Micra meet that there's actually no tow eye in the spare tire kit, even though there's a spot to stow it:

So to answer the question: on the non-racecar Micras in Canada, this appears to be a door to nowhere.
