Dealer checked my car and placed an order for a new cluster that I'm awaiting.

Almost every vehicle is always showing 5 KM/H faster than it is going unless it is a certified calibration speedo. (found on enforcement vehicles) It is my belief that automakers do this to prevent excessive speeding by tricking our brains into believing that we are going faster than we are. It's kind of a sneaky way of them "protecting" us. I can go on at length about the number of cars I've observed this on using GPS technology and OBD2 diagnostics technology. It's not broken just designed that way.

I've checked my 2017's speedometer using GPS and it seems 100% accurate... not sure about the odometer yet.

Sounds like maybe they've corrected this issue.

So after months I got my cluster replaced.
It's still off but ways better.

It's off by 2 kms at any speed, where as before the faster I went the more there was a difference according to the GPS.

To go 100 Kms I had to go 112 or whatever I forget. I got so used to using my GPS as my speedo which is crap!
Now to go 100 kms I have to go 102 kms, not bad!

So while not perfect as my wife's 2017 it's doable. Her needle sits perfectly at zero and mine still rests around 2 kms.

Anyone know how to remove the cluster? I'll adjust the needle myself.

    Thanks.

Today I fixed my speedo to EXACT speed.

    To get the cluster out:
Remove two screws on steering column cover and it snaps apart.
    Remove left side fuse cover.
Remove screw under gas / hood release.
1 screw to the left that holds the obd2 port. (2017 has 2)
Unsnap lower bezel. Let it hang.
    Unsnap sterio bezel.
Tilt column down, unsnap cluster bezel.
Unsnap cluster cover (leave cluster in)
    Pull needle and align it.
    DONE
    Put interior back.

    I couldn’t take it lol. That’s me!

    What???? Just moved the needle?
How does that work when the difference varies according to the spedd.
My car is shows 100 when the gps says 94.
did you move the needle to align at a particlular speed ?

I set it to zero key off.
Should you come to Etobicoke I’ll help you.

Didn’t just move it. I pulled it off and repositioned it.

My speedo is off by about 8km when going 100km/h. I am about to purchase new summer tires and wondering if it is worth it to go to a 185/65/r15 sizing to help correct the speedo. Would there be any other issues by going with a taller tire? they happen to be cheaper than the stock 185/60/r15.

I may be a bit late on answering your question but if there's no clearance room issues the larger tires should be fine. It's possible with the slightly taller gearing you'll see a small increase in fuel mileage. I used to drive an '88 Ford Escort that came from the factory with 13" wheels/tires, I got some 14" wheels out of the junkyard and started running 14's. Stock tire size was 165/80/13 and I have ran tires as large as 185/75/14 without issues.
