I tested my Micra SV. I used 2 Gps units. One a Garmin and the other was a phone app.
The odometer is 100% accurate so I'm OK.
But the speedometer is way out of wack.
    100 on the speedo = 94 GPS
    120 on the speedo = 112 GPS

I sure would be nice if there was a way to fix this issue!

Taller tires will fix this. My winter tires cut the difference in half!

I have had 87 cars and have never had a completely accurate speedo ever. Better they read high and low. easier on the pocket book.
Indeed a slight tire change or have the car adjusted electronically at the dealer if under warrantee. They can tweak the ECU.

I know this is an old thread but I drove about ~395 km to visit my sister and my odometer says it was 415 km which is about 5% too high.

Has anyone else in the thread had any resolutions?

VW went for emissions so I think Nissan went for mileage.

did you check your distance with a GPS? I found the odometer too be very accurate.

It is just the speedometer this is very inaccurate.

Yes I downloaded a GPS app on my phone and drove for 19.63 km according to GPS but the odometer showed 20.3 km, which is 3.4% higher. I contacted the dealer and they said they will have me drive while they follow me with another car to compare the two.

That was my experience too. Speed was off, odo was OK.

The car's ECU knows the correct speed - in the car I tested, the OBD-II port was recording the right speed. Only the needle on the speedo was off.

If they are going to follow you in another car then put a GPS in that car too.

If they follow you in another car, they'll probably follow you in another Nissan Micra. They know what's up.

In any case, I put "Versa"-sized tires on my car (185/65R15), and using a Garmin GPS, have determined that my speed at 120 km/h is over by a respectable 2-3 km/h. This tells me two things: 1) The Micra components for measuring speed likely came straight off the Versa assembly line, and 2) it's a problem they'll likely fix by up-sizing the tires, but only when they're forced to.

At the very least, Nissan should release a bulletin stating that the 185/65R15 are suitable to be used on the Micra, because I had to lie to the tire shop when I brought in my old tires and rims and told them it was for my Versa. I am a man of principle, and therefore feel no guilt in lying in this case.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
