In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

(Added the video inline in post #1 - there's a button in the editor to do that, or use the VIDEO tag)

Oh yes, he does long, but thorough reviews. I have watched TWO videos he did of similar length on the Mirage.

I can't believe I watched the whooooole thing.

He really likes the bumps on the steering wheel -- thumb locators -- he mentioned them 3 times!

When you have half an hour to fill, there's always redundancy.

Thanks for posting that, I watched the next one as well. It was more 'objective' the guy didn't sound like he was being paid by Nissan for the review, there was a bit of criticism included. For AT lovers the 4 speed is a bit disappointing in this day and age. I read that Fiesta is having problems with the 6sp dual clutch auto so maybe I'm better off with this 4sp?

I think this will be my next car.

If you must have an automatic (I shudder at the thought, and you have my sympathies for the medical condition that requires you to drive one ), the Micra's 4-speed isn't as bad as you might expect at first.

It's surprisingly smooth at low/moderate loads, and they made some effort to incorporate fuel saving features so it doesn't suck back the dino juice as badly as older 4-speeds used to. See post #11 in my review notes about the SR automatic.

Yup, I agree with MetroMPG. The four speed in the Micra is actually pretty good. Old tech, but that's the nature of the car...remember, in 1990, my Micra was carburated when everything was fuel injected. I'm still impressed at how well Nissan tweaks the old tech to save us money and still make this a great car.
