Wynter, you will do it from outside or inside, your lower mesh.

I'm going to do it from the inside as I did the top grille, either by that small access area or I'll weave the material through the vents from the outside, since those vents are much larger than the top, which will be easier using the material you did instead of wire mesh. It will still be a bugger of a job since we can't have our hands on the other side, but having done this once, I now have some tricks and will use long zip ties!

Ok, here's the lower mesh done in 1 hour, temporarily until the bumper comes off and then I will re do the entire thing. I found out, larger zip ties have larger locks, more visible - ugly.

This was so much easier than the wire, I wove the mesh in through the grille vents, as in photo, and that 'odd thing' that protrudes from the cover held it in place.

Zip tied 2 ties together to lengthen them to go through the licence area as the top of the mesh didn't have support. I used a trusty crochet hook to pull it back through.

i was walking around the parking lot at the train station, and noticed that many cars including those that are expensive brands, have a wide-open grill, with 0 protection to the condenser... the grill is so big that an squirrel can squeeze in no problem..

My question is: do car manufacturer don't know, don't care or just totally ignore it? or are we over protective of our Micra?

I noticed the same thing in many cars. I don't think they care, as if it's damaged, we're back for repairs, and money in their pocket. Off to get a tooth pulled, not happy.

Well man.. Ill tell you how it is from where I sit, after loosing my AC condenser.

Book labour is approximately 6 hrs to remove a condenser and replace. Plus an hour to refill the system. So 7 hours labor at $100 an hour. About 700ish.

Now for me to remove the condenser using hand tools, no guide, luck and indifference and taking my time - 43 minutes. So a pro mechanic might take a half hour. So say an hour and half to do the swap, including a smoke break. Then an hour to fill the system.

Not to mention the part itself. My dealer quoted me roundabout $400 for the condenser. I just took it off. Didnt want AC anyway.

So a repair job that costs 1/8th of the cost of the car. Why on earth would they put a protection screen in?

Yup, huge profits in non-warranty repairs. They don't even use lube. Cars are engineered to allow maximum non-warranty repairs with minimal customer notice. Condenser coil is an easy non-critical profit machine.

I did the same. Materials - Gutter protector from Lowe's - $15 for set of 6(I needed two but I cannot buy two). Bunch pf screws. Work -
I did remove front bumper(most tricky is to unscrew two 10MM bolts by headlight). I cover both upper and lower grills.
