L/100 kms on a full tank of gas in a 5 speed? (Highway driving)

    Hey everyone!

I haven't taken my Micra on a all highway trip yet. I'm hoping to at some point but it made me wonder. What do some of you get doing straight highway on a tank of gas? I did partial highway last year and got 6.5L/100 kms.

What are your stats on all highway mileage?

Your highway number is pretty darn close to the average that other manual Micra drivers are getting year round:

    • 6.6 L/100 km (manuals only)

    From: Micra Fuel Economy Log

Seems pretty good considering the 2017 and up Micra is rated at 6.8 highway / 8.7 city.

The biggest impact on highway fuel economy is speed. 120 km/h uses ~20% more fuel than 100 kph: Tested: Speed vs. MPG/fuel economy, 2015 Micra SR automatic & Micra S 5-spd manual

Carrying anything at all on the roof will kill economy too: Roof rack test: quantifying the aero penalty

And air conditioner use costs another 5-10%, depending on speed: AC vs. MPG: impact of air conditioning on fuel economy tested

    Food for thought!

I've been monitoring my mileage a lot lately as it has been quite high over the winter and now that my car is fully broken in (muahahaha).

When I was breaking it in, I got about 6.5L/100Km city. Now that it's broken in (and I drive it hard), I get between 6.8-7.8L/100Km city depending on how hard I'm thrashing it.

I rarely take it on the highway but have been on a few small road trips and average about 6.2L/100Kms. I plan on taking it camping this year a fair bit and will monitor it's highway consumption when I do.

I had as bad as 450km on 40litres. And as good as 750km on 41litres....

Its not what you drive, its how you drive it.
