    speedometer off or not

    Hey guys,

As I mentioned in my past threads I own 3 micras and just returned 2015 off lease. just wanted to share my speedometer experience with all 4 cars.

2015 off by 3-4 kms slower than actual speed.
2016 off by 8 kms slower than actual speed.
2017 bought in May, speedometer dead ON.
2017 bought in Sept. 5 kms slower than actual speed.

    Just thought I would share...

My wife’s 2017 is dead on. My 2015 was ways off.
The dealer gave another under warranty and it was better but still off.

I corrected it myself. Now 100% on!

I pulled the needle and repositioned it. It took a few tries before it matching up to my gps.

I have owned 3 NISSAN CUBEs and all of their speedometers have been off.
According to my GPS ( with OEM wheels and tires)to go 55 mph according to the GPS the speedo read 58 or 59. This error was not a set amount but a percent difference. The faster I drove the greater the actual difference.

To correct this I switched from 195/60R15 to 195/65R15. and as a bonus they were a few $'s cheaper
The speedometer (and I assume the odometer) now match my GPS exactly at all speeds. They are only 3/8" taller. I notice no difference in appearance or handling qualities.

According to my FUELLY data I thought that my fuel economy had decreased slightly, but I then realized that due to the odometer error with the OEM size that the old calculations were artificially high: With the OEM tires the car registered 30 miles when I was actually going only 28.2 miles. When I took this into account my mileage may have actually improved slightly.

One change that I hadn't planned on was that I should decrease the air pressure.

    I wrote Michelin:My 2014 Nissan Cube S calls for 33PSI in 195 60R15 tires.. I am installing 195 65 R15 tires. Do I still use 33PSI?
They responded:The recommended psi for the tire size is P195/65R15 is 29, as this psi the new tires will meet the load carrying capacity of the original tires.

    TIRE SIZES???

    Tire size effects my accuracy.

    also

    @ Jamb pressure, I'm off %5
at 40psi i'm much closer to correct.

the speedo is calibrated to the Alloys

meaning you lose %5 of your warranty if you didn't get alloys
