    2015 SR Manual Transmission Noisy

    Hi all,

Does anyone else with a manual trans Micra think the transmission is a tad noisy?

We all know that whiney/buzzing noise manual transmissions make going in reverse but I've noticed my Micra also makes that noise, although not as loud, in 1st and 2nd gear.

    Should I be concerned?

My car has made this noise since I bought it new but never really paid it any mind. It's never caused me any problems when driving I just think it's a bit noisy compared to other cars I've owned.

I think this is the first I've heard anybody mention gear noise in the manual trans.

We've had a couple of members have auto trans replacements (bearing problems, if I recall?), but no manuals.

I didn't notice anything unusual in the four different Micra 5-speeds I've driven.

i would say its NOT the quietest transmission in the world.

but i dont think i have any bearing noise, so i am not concerned...so far!

reverse is usally louder becuase its usally not helical gears. (its straight cut gears)
for all i know 1st could be straight cut in our cars (but i doubt it).

    YIKES!

looks like only revers is straight cut.

    no A/C /no power options/ block heater/4x 2 Ohm speakers...all factory stock in 2015
    Feb 2015 build
    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

He lived on my street or it was his sis and he was visiting.

Just after buying my car I saw his and was checking it out. He came out to chat.
    Nice fellow Micra owner.

    Hey dude,
I remember you. I was visiting my sister. She's since moved from there.
It was nice chatting with you about our Micra's.

I think I have to agree with MrMicra. The Micra manual transmission is not the quietest. I'm not concerned about my transmission. It works fine. It's just noisier than I'm used to from my previous cars.

I copied you in buying that heater wire extension.
Did you remove your bumper cover to install that?!!!

Glad you feel your trans is ok.

No. I didn't have to remove the bumper cover. I was able to drop the existing heater core wire through some gaps inside the engine bay then connect it to the NOCO extension. Then it's just a matter of tucking everything up and out of the way.

I just squeezed the coverer plug into the lower grill and used some zip ties to hold it in.
