    Not to use E85 gas?

I read this in the manual last night. I was wondering isn't that all that we use in Canada is E85 gas? So I should use 87 or 91 gas?

E-85 is a high octane performance fuel. Your 87 octane with up to 10% ethanol is a different beast

Also, typically the premium grade at the big name gas stations is ethanol-free, if that's an issue for you.

(It's an issue for older vehicles and/or marine engines.)

E85 is a blend of gasoline and ethanol, just instead of the ~10% now in most fuels, its 85% Ethanol. Despite the bogus 'better for the environment claims' (evidence suggests the rate of deforestation for fuel-supply crops actually leads to a net increase in greenhouse gases vs. dino fuel), it was actually developed as part of the EPA's mandate to secure a fuel source that did not rely on outside nations ("energy security"). The environmental benefit was not much of a consideration, but manufacturers were very quick to jump on the notion that Ethanol=Green.

That said, if your vehicle has a yellow fuel cap, it is capable of ethanol content up to and including E85, whether it is marketed as a "flex fuel" vehicle or not. The Micra is (thankfully) not one of these.
