Congratulations to my 2015 Micra SL

Just hit 76,000 kms. Just drove about 11 hours more or less straight (stops for gas, bathroom, food) with absolutely no problems, up and down the hills/mountains of Washington State Hwy 20. I'm 73 years old and I keep thinking this will be my last car..... I don't think I could find anything else so reliable to replace it with.

My question is. While I have been having services, etc. done at KalTire, I am wondering about taking it in to the dealer for a good go-over. So far (fingers crossed), it's cost me very little to maintain the car but I'd like someone who knows Micras to have a good lookover. Anything in particular I should have checked? My only issue is the bottle cap that is somewhere in my emergency brake area, and then I also dumped a cup of coffee in more or less the same place just a week or so ago. :-)

    brake fluid flush

a good "go over" can be more physiological than mechanically useful.

    generalizations:

your probably at 40 percent brakes front
    60 percent rear
    left

auto trans fluid? --no clue im manual
    rad fluid...still looking into that
battery if more than 8 years old

you could spay lubricant into door hinged and hatch hinges yourself, and hood latch

tires probably 30 percent left ?...might be time to start saving for new (new=less chance puncture...maybe)

maybe take the ebrake cover loose...its not that hard, and wipe the coffe and bottlecap out!

im at 53kms, battery replacement soon, just did in 2015 honda fit,but i carry a jumppack in the micra now , so might try and eek out last volt, probably for SURE 10 years,i always use the blockheater (even in summer) so in theory battery sees less load

Thanks for your reply. I got new tires last year (pretty Nokian all-weather tires) and I had the brakes done a couple years ago. I'm not heavy on the brakes because I use the gas pedal to slow (by hardly ever using cruise control). I'm not on the original battery, but almost. My original battery was replaced 3 months after I got the car. I won't do another long trip until it is replaced, so before next spring for sure. I'll review my service receipts to see if anything else you mention has been done. I don't think so.

You have a block heater? In Vancouver?

the block heater was standard on the 2015,i think they removed it from 2016 on. if you've got it...use it!!! you may well have a 2 prong extension cord tucked near the battery. i just added a small extension cord to front of car and have it on a timer in the garage, usually only drive Tues and thru at 6am. its an EV!!

sounds like you have pretty much everything covered.

    battery soon
brake fluid flush...might have been done with breaks

you should be good till 100k+

Was this nation-wide, or only if sold in certain areas? ... or dealerships?
I guess I'm equally surprised at the automatic inclusion of a block heater.

Finally had to address what fell into my emergency brake area. As I was leaving the park this afternoon, I couldn't get the e-brake all the way down without a lot of pressure which I exerted.... to keep the light and beep from coming on. So FINALLY took it apart... not hard, but I can't really see in, just could feel (I'll have another look in the morning) and I pulled out a peanut in a shell, which immediately stopped the light and beeper from coming on. I am very surprised that I didn't crack the peanut open.

2 thumbsup...possibly you should design some sort of extra "rubber cover" ..aka BRAKE LEVER BIB!!...as you seem to be a "brake lever cover dropper"...nuts,bottlecaps,your like a squirrel in that car !.lol..its easily done.

Ha ha ha. Yes, actually sounds like a good idea. I think a big of gorilla tape (keeping with the animal theme) in order to keep up that little bit that you can push down. BTW, the peanut was mine, but destined for a squirrel.... fell out of the bag I was moving from my arms into the passenger seat.

i was envisioning more of a thin rubber sheet with a hole for the handbrake...than flow over the "hole" .because there seems to be alot of stuff dropping ..muffin bits, peanuts, bottle caps .not judging !! .... ...just need to mitigate consequences!
