pleased you got it sorted and was minor..sometimes the simple answers are the best!! good information to know about!

    2015 Micra S (manual)
    no A/C /no power options/ block heater/4x 2 Ohm speakers...all factory stock in 2015
    Feb 2015 build
    9,999 purchase price + tax..no additional 1600$ because it was a 2015 purchased in 2016
so receipt says $8,399....+1600 .... so they look good i guess...for a brand new car!

Fantastic. I updated the thread title.

The mechanic turned the wheel, heard the noise, then pulled the generic floor mat back...it was right up against the steering linkage at the U bolt,
    Nice catch.

I once looked at my aunt's car: "there's a clicking noise when I press the gas".

So I got in and sure enough, every time I pressed the gas past a certain point, there was a distinct noise from the linkage.

So of course I pressed it all the way to the floor as a test. Want to guess what happened?

This was in the days before we had those little hooks that hold floor mats in place. Fortunately I was on a deserted road while I got it sorted out!
