Micra the new Suzuki Swift gti ?

I don't know if anyone has had the chance to own or drive a swift gti, but if you have you probably know where I'm going with this thread, I've been the proud owner of 2 swift gti's and as soon as I took out the micra sr 5 SPD it was dejavu all over again, the compact appearance, aggressive handling and a little engine that could I could not believe the similarities I think there is going to be big potential with this new little pocket rocket it's absolutely a blast to drive!

I have driven several, owned one.

They were ridiculously fun cars at the time. Power to weight was even better than the Micra (100 hp pushing ~1800 lbs vs. 109 hp pushing ~2300 lbs), but overall far less refined.

I just got rid of mine this summer...

I hear that the Swift will have a styling or design change for 2017, not sure how accurate that info is...

    Nice!

Yes, indeed. But the bottom of the car was more rust than metal. It hadn't been driven for years.
    .
The good news is many of its parts were sold/donated to other vehicles, so its spirit lives on. The sweet little 1.3L engine got its angel wings... it's powering an ultralight plane now!

    That is too funny!

I will say in fact I was pretty happy to finally get rid of it -- a bit more room around my garage. Which I promptly filled with a crappy old Miata.

That new Swift... I have to say that C-pillar "floating roof" styling fad is wearing a little thin on me.

Honestly, I started to think the Mitsubishi Mirage was the new Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.
