    Micra Vs...

I thought we can discuss our impressions on how the Micra compares to its competition. It's come up in other threads, with power-to-weight ratios and such.

Before I settled on the Micra, I looked at the competition. I decided to write about my experience and findings, starting off with the Chevrolet Spark: http://mymicra.com/?p=286

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

Good write-up! It's surprising how close the cars are in some respects. Also quite surprising that the smaller (on the outside) Spark has some interior dimensions that are larger than the Micra's (and some other competitors). I hope Nissan will fit the flip/folding rear seats that are in the UK Micra.

(Also... double-check your Spark/Micra highway mileage figures.)

One mystery continues though, on the subject of the Micra's automatic transmission (which most buyers will choose). Chevy dropped the 4-speed slushbox from the Spark for the more efficient CVT for the 2014 model year. The ironic punch line? GM is using a NISSAN CVT (JATCO)!

I agree; these would give the Micra the advantage of greater cargo space with the seats folded down.

Oops...a typo, thanks for catching that.

I believe things like the tumble rear seats and CVT transmission will be contingent on the success of the Micra in our marketplace. I get the impression that Nissan has invested as little as possible in the 2015 Micra in order to "Test the waters," as it were.

Moving on, I did a comparison against the Yaris, where the Micra's advantages are more pronounced than with the Spark:

Been a while since I did one of these, but a recent Youtube post inspired me to write.

    New Micra vs. Used Lexus.
