EDIT: hey Ant Ruby, I just checked my car re:hood release bracket, and can confirm yours is definitely bent. The whole bracket can easily be replaced (2 bolts) or just bent straight by hand. The little tabs bend very easily. So, a warning to others... don't pull real hard on the hood or gas door release levers.

Had to be before we got it. WE do not pull hard on those at all. (That bracket only holds the outer cable.) The inner cable moves real easy.

I love this fantastic Micra. Love the ride. Love the colour. Love the size. Love the light in the hatchback. Love the bluetooth. Love the fact the rear windows go all the way down. Love the headlights that someone took time to aim in the right places. Love the fuel filler being on the drivers side. Love that the fuel filler door locks from inside the car. (No need for key.) Love the stainless steel license bolts put on by dealer.

Probably an over-eager inspector yanked the cable to hard while quickly doing the "special inspections" prior to deploying the Micras to the dealerships.

Yep, just to be clear... i'm not saying you pulled it too hard, just that the tabs will bend easily if one did pull even slightly hard.

That is why Bruce will not bend the one straight for fear of snapping it off.

That's a lot of pop! Hard to see; are the back seats up or down?

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

    Good Luck AR
Bruce was at Plaza Nissan today and they have ordered the complete bracket and cable. Comes as complete unit.
