    February

Another record month for the company...

Nice to see that Micra sales were up, compared to Feb 2017:

    437 Micras sold

    March sales

    578 Micras sold last month.

And it looks like it was the first month in a few years that the company didn't set a monthly sales record. However they announced their fiscal year end results, and no surprise that 2017 was their best ever in Canada.

    April sales

    594 Micras sold in April

    vs.

    772 sold in April 2017.

Overall, another record month for the company though:

Today, Nissan Group announced total Canadian sales of 12,198 units for April 2018, an increase of 7.4 per cent and an April record.

    end of monthly sales reports?

Last month, GM said (in the U.S.) they will no longer report sales on a monthly basis (a tradition they themselves started many decades ago). They argue the monthly ups & downs are a distraction -- too much variability in the numbers to be useful. They're switching to quarterly reports instead.

I believe Ford pretty much immediately said they're going to follow suit.

I wonder if Nissan will switch to quarterly reports too. There's little advantage (and possibly some disadvantage) to reporting monthly when your competitors aren't.

    June sales

    Another high point overall:

Mississauga, Ont. – Today, Nissan Group announced total Canadian sales of 16,330 units in June 2018, an increase of 2.0 per cent and an all-time monthly sales record.
Micras sold: 590 (vs. 1074 last June).

Year-to-date 2018 Micra sales are down 25% vs. last year.

    From: http://nissannews.com/en-CA/nissan/c...canadian-sales

The Kicks also just had its first full month of sales, with 609 sold. You gotta know that's going to cannibalize some Versa Note and Micra sales. (Note sales are down 12% vs. last year-to-date.)

    July numbers not good!

Crap - only 363 Canadians took a Micra home last month!

That's the lowest this year and 2nd lowest month since it was launched. Down 62% vs. July last year. Year-to-date sales are now down 32% vs. last year.

It was also one of the slowest months for activity in the forum. Have we passed peak Micra enthusiasm?

People must be buying Kicks. Sure, it means more profit for Nissan, but it does not bode well for the future of the Micra.

Versa Note sales were also down (-16%)

    August sales

375 Micras sold last month! Not great (-58% compared to last August). But overall, Nissan Canada is still breaking records:

Today, Nissan Group announced total Canadian sales of 13,346 units for August 2018, an increase of 1.4 per cent and an August record.
Both Nissan and INFINITI Divisions set August sales records with 12,145 and 1,201 units sold, respectively, representing increases of 1.5 and 0.7 per cent year-over-year.
    http://nissannews.com/en-CA/nissan/c...canadian-sales

There were 743 Kicks sold in Aug. We know where some of those Micra sales are going. I've seen 2 Kicks in the wild so far.

Also amazing: over 1000 Leafs sold last month, an all-time record. That also makes it the top-selling car in the line-up. Probably because of the cancellation of the Ontario EV rebate. You had to order before mid-Sept to qualify for the rebate.

Looks like Nissan either called it right not bringing the revised Micra to NA or they made an error as sales fall. Interesting numbers. if the economy contracts sales will get a big boost.
