Engine Water Intake + Thermostat replaced

Just a heads up. Started noticing a smell I couldn't place, but I knew from somewhere.
Then the overheating light came up, quite a shock as, at most, the fans would turn on only after extended periods under the blistering sun, no high temperature light, yet here I was, on a rainy and cold day, having overheating issues. Stopped as soon as possible, and to my dismay almost all of my antifreeze/coolant was gone, and I had just checked my levels a couple days ago as I added a quart of oil. Bought a gallon, refilled, and after getting home, an inspection revealed he smell was actually coolant being burned, and there were splotches of it all over the low section of the engine bay. Fearing a radiator puncture I took it to a radiator shop, there I was told it was not the actual radiator but the engine water intake, so I took it to my trusty mechanic.
He ended up replacing the engine water intake, seals, the thermostat as it was misbehaving, and the pipe clamps.
Overheating issue gone. Just a heads up, my March has +77000 km on the clock. Might be because I drove a pigfat van while my car was at the workshop, but the car feels pretty nimble now.

Pictures of the parts replaced, and the thermostat part number.

Update. Turns out, a couple days later, antifreeze began to leak like a broken faucet. The above replacements where totally necessary, but the main issue was that, apparently, the last owner had a crash he failed to mention. While the bodywork was good enough to hide this, a bent radiator that just gave up revealed my car's less than ideal past. Got the whole radiator installed, sadly I took no pictures of the bent one. A more thought inspection revealed that so far that's the only consequence, though I'm a bit miffed at the guy who sold me this car. More than a year had to go by in order for these symptoms to show up. All because in this country, there's no such thing as a car record, anywhere. Only if its stolen they'll record the VIN, but that's about it. Oh well, let's hope this is the last of that. So far, no complaints at all. Latest plans include a rear strut bar, to make up for the understeering I picked up with my front bars.
