Looks like the solenoid housing is not well protected from corrosion. The coil is positioned with the coil connection on the top that will naturally collect crude and moisture.

Decided to platsic-dip the coil housing after protecting the delicate parts. Only time will tell if this is the right thing to do as I am not sure how well the plast-dip will hold up to engine heat.

I mean, I know it's a cheap car made with cheap components that will fail and need replacement. What gets me is what the dealer charges for these parts. There's no bloody way to justify this part costing nearly $270 on a car that costs $10,000 new.

Plasti-Dip may work, or it may trap moisture and cause corrosion. I guess time will tell. Perhaps we should look into fabricating some sort of block off piece beside the radiator to prevent snow and crap from getting into the engine bay in the first place.

The o-ring appears to be slightly thinner than the original, but otherwise fits perfectly. I'm going to hang on to the original o-ring just in case. This part came pretty fast, all things considered. I should've ordered three more and sell them on eBay for $50! Just kidding; I recommend AliExpress, they've delivered on everything I've ever ordered from them.

Do I have to drain my oil to replace this?

I had a p0011 and thinking of having one on route while I wait for the light to come back on. Mine also looks to be rusted as hell. Part link below.

No, it's on top of the engine. Don't have to drain oil to swap it. (As long as you do it with the engine turned off. )
