you get what you pay for...buy a toyota

Had car for a year now, not impressed, folks spend a little bit more and buy a better built car. The fact that this car is made in Mexico may have something to do with it and well it's justit is not put together very well. Problems...took car in for the speedo and they tell me that they all are off by a couple of k's. Test drove a 2016 same thing...really. Take a look at where your front headlights meet the side quarter panel...I'll bet they are not fitted the same . Looked at the 2016 same thing...really. I now have a leak coming from the drivers side "A" pillar where it meets the headliner. I have also experienced some of the problems that have been written on this forum. Front passenger suspension noise....fixed by dealer, radio decides to change station on it's own...replaced by dealer, drivers side height adjustment handle broke...replaced by the dealer. I have owned many cars in the past and I must say that IMO Toyota wins hands down. Owned 2 Echo's never had this many issues. Anyway I guess you get what you pay for ..NO MORE NISSAN FOR ME, HELLO AGAIN TOYOTA.

That's too bad you're not happy.

So are you planning to jump ship and trade it in?

I stil have my old echo and it's a tank! but it cost 4000$ more than my micra(both buy new!) and if you chose a brand new yaris, you will roll a mazda!(persistant story on the echo-yaris forum!) I always put a lot of maintenance in my car(I have a friend mechanic!) so normaly I see the trouble coming! when you chose a cheap car you got a cheap car and I love my cheap cars!

    Yaris sedan = Mazda2.

Yaris hatchback = Toyota (for now).

All what I would call minor issues that can happen to just about any car, it's why warranties were invented.

I'm sorry that you have had what seem to be bad times. I've had my Micra for a year and have had one, and only one issue. The windshield trim came loose at the top right side. The dealer fixed it with no fuss - and now that I am older and wiser, service means everything to me.

The service Nissan gives me is top notch and the car seems to be one of the best I've owned, however, I've never owned a Toyota. I have had an '87 Micra, '90 Ford Tempo, '91 Mercury Topaz, '99 Ford Escort, and a '95 Nissan Pathfinder. I wore all those vehicles out...300,000+kms on each.

The new Micra is awesome! The price for my SR with all the bells and whistles - including the oil change/body protection/windshield protection lifetime packages (from my dealership) along with 0% financing made this a great deal. I plan on getting my money's worth out of this car.

I sincerely hope you have better vehicle experiences in the future. Happy motoring!!

I've had my Micra just over a year and the only issue was a recall for the dealer to hack the hell out of the center console because some big footed idiot got his winter boot caught. Anyways I didn't go in to have that done and I do all my oil changes, tire swaps, etc. Only complaint I have is the paint. I saw what I thought was a piece of dirt on the bottom of the back lift and I tried scrapping it off and removed the paint. There was no dirt unless it was under the paint. Touch up fixed it. Other than that for $10000 these cars can't be beat for being able to fit 4 adults, grocery capacity and pricing. I still get 52 mpg and I am forced to fill up in the 5th week. I don't buy cars that list in their maintenance schedule things like replace timing belts, water pumps at set mileage.

For me, the fun factor is huge. I will forgive some fit and finish issues as long as I'm engaged and entertained. But if a car strands me or deteriorates excessively despite reasonable care, then I go car shopping!
I've never driven a Toyota I liked (I still want to try the MR2 Spyder though)!

    Enjoy your Toyota.

    OP,

sorry to hear you've had issues.

all i can say is: the car is cheap for a reason, yes. if you compare it with a Yaris, well, remember that a Yaris is slightly more expensive, and it lacks some features that our Micra has, in similar price points.

the REAL answer is, of course, to buy used, not new. that is the true bang for buck solution.

Happy for you that you can get in an Echo or a Yaris. At my size, I can only have a Nissan. The only issue so far I have with the Micra is the noise coming from the upper part (ceiling) on the driver size. I keep having to push a bit on it for it to stop. ANything I can do?
