My day at CTMP with Nissan.

Nissan has invited me to a special media day at CTMP.
To say I am excited about this is an understatement.
Anytime Nissan has invited me to something it has been a well organized first class experience and I expect nothing less today.
I will be on track in a cup car and I am curious to find out if the speed limiter will kick in on the long back straight after Moss corner.
Either way i will report back tonite on the days activities and how it all went down.
Thanks to PTBO I am armed to the teeth with forum decals and will be spreading the word every chance I get.

    Speed limiter = rev limiter?

Sounds like a ton of fun. You've put in a lot of volunteer time with the Micra Cup -- some playtime on the track is a nice perk!

PS: do people still call the track Mosport?

I don't know. I do know that as fast I could get my micra S going was around 184 k.
    Yeah it's easier to say.

So it's real late and I gotta get my butt out of bed in a couple hours to go to work but there's no way I can sleep yet after today's event. I drove a micra cup car on the ddt for ten minutes and the the CHAMP Olivier Bédard drove my arse around the ddt at mosport for ten minutes!
Yes his laps were much quicker than mine but I got to see what our cars will do in the hands of an extremely skilled pilot and I can assure you that it is a fast car in the hands of such a skilled young man.
As for the difference between the way a cup car drives and our cars in stock form drives? Not much other than advertised... the pirelli slicks stick much better the car is sprung stiffer maybe a little more power/less weight and waaaaay better brakes!!
The souvenirs of the day are a pair of fire resistant micra cup driving gloves and a motoring tv key chain.

Sounds like it was a blast, Pete. I'm envious!

I saw one account of the media event already posted:

So what does it feel like, in practice? Nissan invited me to the Driver Development Track (DDT) at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to put the 2016 Nissan Micra Cup Car through its paces. Some would dismiss the 109hp figure as being insufficient, but you’d be mistaken. The light weight of the Micra allows you to really hustle it on the track. It is one of those vehicles that allows you to build your confidence quickly
