Mine has a few noises but being a mechanic you kinda get an idea of what's just a noise due to being in a man made object travelling along at various speeds over various surfaces and what's a noise to worry about. Add to that the Micra is cheap although I don't think badly built for its price point and on the whole it's pretty quiet. In most cases you will know when a noise is one to be concerned about and you won't feel any need to ask anyone's opinion you'll just go straight to a workshop. If anyone thinks Micras are noisy go and have a drive in a Dacia or a Proton then get back in your Micra, you'll feel like you've got in a Rolls Royce!

    HA! Got that.

For anyone who does not have access to a Dacia for comparison, come for a ride in my Firefly sometime. The base Micra S experience is refinement embodied.

Those awful Dacia were sold in Canada in 1984-85 and 86. They were downgraded Romanian versions of the otherwise much appreciated Renault 12 from the seventies. Here is a Canadian version, recognizable by the red side-marker at the back and the Quebec license plate :

In Canada during the eighties, it was possible to buy eastern countries cars; Lada, Skoda, Dacia, Yugo, Aro (Romanian 4x4). They were pretty cheap to buy, but by comparison, a Micra S for ten thousand bucks is really the deal of the century, and a pretty good car compared to those horrible vehicles.

And this is the actual Dacia Logan on sale in Europe and emerging market countries :

I'm not a mechanic and this is my first Nissan. If there's an engine related noise I'm not familiar with, this is the place to ask, as there are mechanics and knowledgeable members here, and possibly some as myself who know little mechanics. Even though the Micra is 'reasonably priced', if we think something is mechanically wrong with it, we post it here for replies and help from fellow members, which was the initial question in the first post in this thread.
