Nice!

I agree with their conclusion; I'd take the pristine original myself.

This did send me down memory lane. Mine was a 1990 model. When I got engaged to get married in 1995, my wife drove a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier former daily rental. She had a 3 speed automatic, crank windows, black plastic bumpers, and the iron block pushrod 2.2L engine, but she did have air conditioning, which was the car's only option; it didn't even have intermittent wipers, which my Micra had. Going from driving my Micra every day to that Cavalier felt like I was getting into a Cadillac by comparison; it was quieter, smoother, had a broader power band with more power, the gearing was better for the highway, and the air conditioning was so nice. There were armrests, and the shifter was at a more comfortable position.
As much as I loved my Micra, it really was only fun for occasional trips. There's a side of me that wishes I never sold it for $600 (even though it was leaking oil all over my driveway), but there's another side of me that understands how tiresome a car like that can be, especially on long commutes. For that, the new Micra is significantly better...but I'd still trade it in for a minty original like that blue one, just because.

What a fun article.
Did you notice the floor covering of the '87 Micra? Sure looked like all plastic/vinyl to me. I think you can still get that today in base model pickup trucks (which nobody but rental companies buy).
Funny thing: recently I was wondering what Nissan did with that old Micra. Nice to see it's getting a bit of use.

It was a hard rubber compound; mine had that. I always thought it was the perfect thing for our climate, and probably helped to keep the floor boards from rusting out. Mine only rusted wherever there was body damage, plus the typical "Hatch Rust" which always seems unavoidable at some point.
I'm sure we'll see some marketing using it!

So... uhhhh... look at the picture with a hangar in the background. I work there.
I've met Lesley, and rode with her in a SVT Raptor as she did some things here in Peterborough which may have not been legal.

Ha! I would have rather gotten a ride in the old Micra.
How'd you meet her?
I like her writing. She's got an admitted soft spot for entry level cars where most reviewers can't see past the latest luxury sedan or SUV they drove.

A co-worker and friend is a member of Peterborough Motor Sports Club, and he knows her through that.
One night at his place we were watching Top Gear and she knocks on the door with the SVT Raptor in the drive that she was reviewing and we went for an "adventure"
