While waiting for my Micra, my dealership was generous in offering me a loaner, which was an Altima with the CVT. Anyone who believes an auto trans is faster in accelerating than a CVT either has a terribly underpowered engine, or is out to lunch. In the Altima, it would take me to the sweet spot in the engine, and just keep me there until I realized the excessive velocity I was propelling myself at. Without gear shifts, it's easy to lose track of how fast you're going until traffic travelling in the same direction starts to feel like oncoming traffic.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

I'll always choose to "row my own" and my girlfriend does not mind. Reminds her of her old civics.

That's why I bought Micra #1 to begin with. It reminds me of the 92 to 95 gen civics with modern features. If honda brought out that car again with modern upgrades I would want one.

"For me, my wife hisses at the idea of a manual"

for some reason, this sentence made me chuckle.
