    Cell phone / GPS holders

Good day everyone, I'd like to start a discussion on some of the cell phone / GPS holders that have worked for you so far. I usually like to keep my phone up close & high up on the dash & center console, without it being stuck to the windshield if possible. I typically use my phone for music and Google Maps for GPS navigation (yes, I let my calls go to voicemail when I'm driving & return them later) so someplace high enough for good GPS reception and close to the auxiliary input jack would be ideal (my Micra doesn't have Bluetooth so I use a 1/8 inch stereo plug & cord for my phone's headphone jack). I've used several holders on various cars over the years; this time I'm using and MPOW CD-slot holder for my phone, I bought it from Amazon.ca for about $16 ($11 on sale and $5 for shipping):

Since I store all of my MP3 music on my phone, I don't use the CD player anymore. The holder is secured by an expanding plate (notice the screw, the manufacturer recommends not to over tighten as it might damage the CD player slot frame). Once installed it's fairly secure, although it tends to bounce up and down somewhat depending on the weight of the phone and on rough roads. The phone does block the view of some of the buttons and most of the display, but the aux jack is fairly close and I can tilt / swivel the phone to portrait or landscape mode. The best thing is that the phone is close enough for me to operate without taking my eyes too far off the road for long, keeps the center air vents clear, and does not take up any windshield real estate. I've had this for about a month now and it seems to be wearing well; I'd like to hear of your experiences with any other models you have used. Thanks everyone!

Canadian Tire special $24.99 Bracketron Universal Grip-it Vent Mount for GPS and it fits the phone. Clips onto the vent, not the greatest, but it doesn't bounce around or fall off and it doesn't block the radio. Perfect height to see over as well.

I have a little usb charger for the utility port, a retractable audio cable and a retractable charger cable...keeps everything tidy when not in use.

My wife and I have the base 2015 Micra with the auto / air / cruise option, and that's pretty much it. No backup cam (you actually have to turn your head to see behind you), no Bluetooth (the aux jack is just fine) and genuine retro-style hand cranks for the windows. Instant classic, and a much simpler car for longevity.
