    AWD K13 Micra in Japan!

Maybe I'm the last one to hear about that...

For 2014, an AWD version of our facelifted K13 Micra was offered on the Japanese market, because, as quote from this article : It's a really small car for city driving, but winter conditions are so harsh in Japan that they need more traction.

Pretty funny to read in regards of our winters here...

The March K13 AWD is officially listed in the very serious Automobile Catalog (a must for any car-nerd)

Ground clearance seems a bit higher, but that seems to be the only visual difference in comparison with a 2WD March.

There was an AWD of the K12 Micra too!

Here is a video of a K12 AWD in action :

But it takes a while before rear wheels are engaging timidely. Not to sure about the real efficiency of that system. I did not found any details about the AWD system mounted on the March. It is coupled only with a CVT transmission.

Ok, it seems to be an electric motor driving the rear wheels...

Ground clearance is definitely higher :

In japan the car doesn't have a "facelift" it has round headlights with the signal marking lights on the front fenders..

There is two special trims available also exclusive to the JDM market, the Nismo S and the Bolero Edition, both built by Autech.

gee...i thought i was the only one who dreamed of eletric rear wheel drive to make 4wd!!! it seemed a good backup if the Fwd motor quit. A tonne of eletrics and crosstalk between systems to make that work, so no hope of a retrofit.

car doesnt seem bad it snow, only had one bad day this year, the traction control seems great. It was icy a but here and thinking about studded snow tires next year

Well anyway, the Beloro edition is technically the fancy pants version of the basic march (available at Nissan dealers in Japan), if not the limited 30 unit production of the A30 is for those who seek true performance figures.
