2016 European Micra K14: some details released, based on Sway concept

We've seen the Sway concept already, and read rumours that it was the next Micra:

Thread: Nissan "Sway" concept car: next generation K14 2016 Micra/March

Now we're getting a few more details, for Europe anyway. The car will share a platform with the Renault Clio and will be built in the same factory in France.

“It will become a direct rival for cars such as the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta.”

Willcox pointed out that Nissan has had the Micra brand in Europe “for 33 years” and acknowledged that this new model will move it markedly away from its city car roots. The current Micra - primarily engineered to be affordable in developing markets - has not been a sales hit in Europe.

Away from city car and more towards crossover eh?
Sounds like a compact hatch with juke engine?
Smaller then the juke but bigger then current and more refined with higher end features / styling is what im taking from that.

Not really -- just a larger hatchback platform. Not jacked up like the crossovers.

So do I, but remember not that long ago what ours was thought to look like compared to what we actually got:

I think it's a good idea to move the Micra upscale; however, it needs to be true to its roots: A super-mini hatchback. If it's bloated in size, they might as well call it a Versa. I'll keep a Micra in my stable as long as they're sold in Canada, and as long as they keep the car a proper Micra.

In our culture obsessed with absurd excess, the Nissan Micra is my counterculture car of choice.

Front reminds me of the current Rogue for some reason or other...Micra's becoming a "hot hatch" now?...
