New tires for the micra sr

Hi folks. The 185s aren't doing it for me. Especially the Dunlop lazy sport tires that came with the car.
I've just locked down on the size and tire I want to put on the SR rims: Michelin pilot sport AS at 205/50/16.
The 185 don't give any confidence in the highway so I figure the 205s with a performance tire will give me more stability and better cornering. Gas mileage may suffer somewhat but I have an automatic and a lead foot and I still get okay mileage.

Also this configuration calculated the closest to the stock set up. And I believe the width won't affect the wheel well as there was a showroom car at my local Nissan with 205/40/17s.

    Any thoughts?

I wasn't planning to go to a 17" rim. I wanted to use my stock rims but it looks like i could go as far as a 225 with a lower profile. the speedo difference is lower than what i was looking at. but if it fits then i might go for a 215 or 225 as long as it fits on a 6" rim.

Update: I didn't upgrade the rims and just put 195/50/16 on the existing "SR" rims. I bought Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires and so far I can really feel the difference. Glad I made the purchase. The slightly larger width makes a difference but I think the quality of the tires makes the biggest difference. I'll see how they do in the rain on Tuesday.
