Sounds like maybe they've corrected this issue.
Thanks for the update, polarbe4r!
The good news is you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Chrysler dealership experience if you buy one of their cars. :)
That was my experience too. Speed was off, odo was OK.
The car's ECU knows the correct speed - in the car I tested, the OBD-II port was recording the right speed. Only the needle on the speedo...
Interesting. Because I tested one Micra's odometer and it was correct even though the speedometer was off. How could that be? The computer knows the correct speed (verified with OBD-II reader); it...
The car's computer knows how fast it's really going, but it's instructing the speedometer needle to say something different:
1208
2015 Micra S manual.
This is the same thing (same speed...
That's funny...
In the SR loaner I had, I tested both the speedometer & the odometer. And the odometer was dead accurate -- within 1/10th of a km after 20+ km of driving (distance measured 2...
Not necessarily. The speedo and odometer are driven separately by the computer.
From what I've read, manufacturers fudge the speed reading (to ensure you're never actually going faster than the...
Thanks, ijamie.
Received a private message from a shy (?) member requesting that I bump this thread:
Thread bumped.
I was going to mention that: big shops often will not put on any tire size other than OEM for liability reasons.
The way around it is to bring in just your wheels. Bit of a pain in the butt, but...
That is hilarious. :D
By law, speedometers are allowed to be off by a certain amount (I forget how much). I suspect that'll be the eventual test if enough owners raise the issue to prompt a...
Thanks for the info & update, MicraMan.
I just updated my earlier post with corrected info:
The Micra's odometer matched a mapped out distance perfectly (Google Earth), as well as the OBD-II gauge.
Did you check them against the odometer as well?
(Revised post...)
I did a 20+ km drive over a measured distance (Google Earth), and the Micra's odometer matched the mapped distance exactly to the tenth of a KM.
So the speedometer seems to be...
Confirmed in the SR automatic I'm driving that the speedometer is consistently reading 4 km/h higher than the car's computer, which looks to me like a correction factor. I used an OBD-II scan tool...
True, true.
But since the output to the odo/speedo comes from the ECU (no more direct mechanical drive speedo/odo cables), it would be easy to add a correction factor to one or the other. ...
Alpha... have you confirmed the odometer is also off?
