Wow. Here's hopnig 3rd time's a charm.
Wow. Here's hopnig 3rd time's a charm.
Im not really looking for a third time.
At this stage, I am waiting for a from Nissan's Tech line on what they want to do with this situation.
Will they throw another engine into the car?
Will they offer a buyback?
What is thier plan on fixing the defect?
I think I will contact Nissan Canada today for some answers.
totally unbelievable.
hope more member perform the "knock test".
you must go for a buyback, this is insane.
i am sure results will be amazing (saddly).
My replacement is in today and I'll be going for my engine replacement next week Wednesday.
Im hoping im just hearing the heat shield or something else.
Or I might be another victim.
From about 1800-2500 i can hear rattling from my drivers seat. I need a adult. Lol
Maybe l1ghtingchris ? You wanna test our cars together?
End of business here, no response. Nissan Canada's response earlier is that Nissan does not buy back vehicles. Dealers must. So Im pretty much up the creek without a paddle on this one. Yes they will replace the engine.
The dealer is looking to sell me a replacement car. We will see the details.
So i just went on a drive.
Warmed up.
Held 40km/h in 2nd gear 2400-3000rpm.
Rattle. Now i look under my hood more then most and most of the things that rattle i know for sure dont.
Could be noisey valves. But im starting to otherwise.
Im going to see about getting a tech stethoscope and listen to my engine.
If theres metal on metal it should be easy to hear and a very noticeable difference between cyl 2 and the rest.
I will try the " unofficial test" soon.
from oil pan is very clear the knock, no matter which cyl has the problem (till now all cyl 2 as far as i know).
valves dont have a "hammer" noise like this problem has.
on this engine the valve problem sounds like anonymus video from 3.32
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5mZEzG5Mfc
that metalic "ticking" noise is valve guide problem (NOT injectors), whole cylinder head needs to be replaced, is a very different sound compared to the rod knock "hammer" noise.
recording a video from under oil pan will be very convincing.
Yeah, the valvetrain and injectors on this thing are so noisy if your going to put a mechanics stethoscope (or even a peice of tube), your best to put it on the oil pan and have an asistant help you, but I find the cell phone method most effective.
