Looking to buy a Micra!
I am currently in the research stage of buying a new car with good fuel mileage and still some fun. So far the Micra is at the top of my list. I currently drive an 05 Maxima. I love the car, but the fuel mileage isn't the best. I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and thought I'd join today.

Go test drive one! Do you want an automatic or standard transmission?

Welcome!
You've come to the right place to get questions answered, if you have some.
Regarding fuel economy...
The Micra's capable of good numbers... even impressive numbers when driven conservatively:

I'm sure you've seen our fuel economy log:

Note that the manual can beat the automatic by a good margin, despite them having practically the same official fuel economy rating:

I'd likely get a manual. I do a lot of highway mileage to and from work. Mostly 100-110.
-
Have you test driven one yet?
-
On a 100% highway drive, the manual and automatic will be about the same. But as soon as you mix in sub/urban driving, the manual can pull better numbers.

No test drive yet. The day i went to take a look last week it was raining so badly i was really not into driving anything. and they only had an automatic there.
It is quite hilly here in Kamloops... would the engine be working too hard most of the time to be giving me great mileage? or would it still be great? In my wife's Rogue she averages about 13 L/100 in mostly city driving.

Those numbers in the graph and from Montreal were on flat land. Definitely not going to see those in the mountains.

Car will be fine for Kamloops. It is geared for city driving youll get up summit dr or columbia quite easily in 3rd. If you follow speed limits on the highway it gets decent fuel milage. If you like to drive fast.....your fuel milage will reflect this.
I have driven nearly 800km on 40litre. And I have also barely driven just over 400km on 40 litres.

Well, let us know once you've tried one out.
You will find the manual is geared fairly low in top gear. But that's not necessarily a problem in hilly driving as it is for us flatlanders.
