Replacement aftermarket HVAC knobs

Ordered knobs from aliexpress as the knobs in the micra looks cheap and don't match the knobs on the stereo.

They don't fit perfectly on the control stems, I may need to trim the knobs down or use a dab of rtv silicone to get them to sit better. Also, the colour of the light is not 100%, but I should be able to fix that with some transparent orange tamiya model paint I have. Will snap a photo when it's dark to see the colour of light coming through.

Yeah. Those are a much closer match to the original ones. A night shot would be good.

Thanks to it getting dark at 5:30, here is a night shot. I did have to paint the clear plastic with the transparent orange I already had on hand.

I like those...so by fit issues, do they not go all the way in due to interference, or they fall off? do they turn the dials fine?
I love that look...i'd do that mod if they work good.

Those look awesome. Nice mod, also curious about the fitment and operation.

They operate fine, and the depth is right, they are just ridiculously easy to pull off so a dab of RTV silicone will do the trick.

Nice. Where'd you get the idea to even replace them? Just looking at pics of other Micra interiors?

Began with just looking at what was available for AM parts for the Micra.

Cool mod. I'm doing it too. Thank you for figuring it out. I never put them in the car yet. They have clear plastic on the inside so I see why you had to change the color. The original knobs seem to be on real tight. How did you remove them? Instructions on box say to use a piece of cloth with pliers. Is it that easy?

These can be ordered with a red surround instead of black too. The red ones come with a red plastic on the inside. Red surround wouldn't look right though but the red inner plastic part would match the color of the back lighting.

The knobs are VERY tight to come off, but it's just a press fit, pliers are your best bet. A cloth will save the finish on the factory knobs.

OK. I just got done copying ptbo micra's climate control mod. Pliers used with a cloth to remove the original knobs; no scratches on originals that way. The large ones aren't too bad to remove but the fan speed one took a couple of tries. It's on tighter than the other two plus it's harder to get a hold of. To remove them all you have to do is pull them straight out.

The two larger ones on the bottom are a little loose so maybe a little RTV silicone to fix but I'll do that later after I match up the color. I'll probably do something similar to what ptbo micra did.

Here are a couple of extra pictures with the knobs removed. The lights are turned on in these two pictures. Looks like they are using small light bulbs for the back-lighting.

LED mod maybe.... hmmm... :p (Camera flash shows up every bit of dust, doesn't look that dirty in real light.)

I thought about LED mod too, but will wait if they ever burn out.

I tried a bit on eBay to see if I could find them again since that is where I originally got them. Shipped out of the UK of all places. Can't seem to find them anymore on eBay. But... there is a link on AliExpress. ptbo micra got his there; maybe he can verify if these are the exact ones he bought.


You would be looking for something like "HVAC Knobs" or such.

I think i'm going to go to kenny u-pull soon and see if I can't find knobs from another vehicle that would fit well. probably cost me pennies as well. Might be an idea if you have access to a pull it yourself scrap yard.

I suggest starting with the 2016 versa note Attachment 3589. Ive grabbed the dash trim around one, didnt noticed the knobs were different at the time... the rest of the car got scrapped since. ill be grabbing them out of the next one i find.

I didnt grab the radio, but i would assume that wiring would be all ready pre wired.

I think you would need the bluetooth module I dont think I may be as simple to upgrade as you think

I’m hi Jacking this post.

How are the two HVAC bulbs removed and replaced? Do you remove each knob and simply tug at each bulb, OR are the bulbs attached inside that black surrounding that twists?

Do you have to remove the HVAC unit itself and get reach of the bulbs from behind?

The control to the left in my car had the bulb out. I pulled the knob and by simply touching it, it lit up. Fingers crossed that will be that lol.

i just put the middle one on...the other 2 have a raised middle part thats easier to grab
