i was with Sonnet a new company but subdivision of Economical Insurance which i was technically with before cause i had a broker but with sonnet u dont need one. I was with perth through the broker which the mail said "economical" all the same company, now if i was still with the broker would i have gotten more idk? i got the value of the car but had previous car loan tacked on when i traded in my old car.
Yup, I can see how the Hyundai would have put you upside down. Something like a used Versa might be your best bet for now, I've really come around on them.
UPDATE on car situation. I managed to get a car now!!!! :)
2004 Pontiac Grand Am! 226,000KM.
I got lucky, one of the Mechanics aunt bought a new car and didn't know what to do with this one maybe sell it so the Mechanic asked me if i wanted it. Of course i did! Got it for $400 and all it needed was a mirror and that same Mechanic got me the safety for me at my work :D
I know its not a Micra or even a hatchback at that but a car in decent shape for cheap!

A certified, e-tested car for $400 is a freakin' miracle! Congrats!
224k is on the low side for a 2004, too.
That's a good deal you snagged -- small consolation considering everything that happened to you.
My previous car was a 2002 Grand Am GT. Great fun cars while they run properly. The 3.4 sucks a lot of gas for a car this small even at idle, though. Seemed to be one problem after the other past 200,000km. Enjoy it while you can. For $400, you can't go wrong. Drive her gently at least until you get right-side up on your debt, and maybe you'll keep those GM problems at bay. :)
$400....thats a steal assuming it works, period.
that's well within the 'be thankful if it even runs' price range.
